Advent 2024
Hello everyone! It's time for me to begin thinking about the Advent 2024 season and the spiritual journey I feel I am in need of during the season.
To begin, I want to welcome you to my blog for the Advent 2024 season. Beginning in a few weeks I will be posting reflections from different books that I am using as individual studies. Some may have over-lapping ideas and themes, and others may be not related to others at all. These are just a collection of texts that I have decided to read and reflect on to grow my connection and faith in God.
The five books I have selected for this season are:
- Heaven and Earth: Advent and Incarnation by Will Willimon
- Christmas in the Four Gospel Homes by Cynthia M. Campbell with Illustrations by Kevin Burns
- An Unlikely Advent: Extraordinary People of the Christmas Story by Rachel Billups
- Experiencing Christmas: Christ in the Sight and Sounds of Advent by Matt Rawle
- Advent: A Season of Surprises by Scott Chrostek
I did try to do this last year with some of these same texts. However, last year it was not a good time for me to complete such a project due to completing nursing school. This year I have more time to devote to growing closer to God and using my words to help others grow closer as well. I am looking forward to going through this season with you. Please feel free to comment and share any thoughts you may have on each post. I have included pictures of each of the texts in case anyone wants to purchase them and read each chapter prior to each week's reflection. I know 2 of them do have e-book options, but all can be purchased in paperback as well.
This will begin on the First Sunday of Advent, December 1st with the first chapter from Will Willimon's book Heaven and Earth: Advent and the Incarnation. I'm excited to begin this journey with you.
